How is it that practice is so much about repetition, but what happens each time is never the same? Judy loves the challenge of teaching, and accepts any adult student who is not averse to practice. She has taught piano at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Ohio Northern University, and George Mason University. Perhaps her favorite piano teaching venue was at the Good Shepherd School outside Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where there was a waiting list to study piano. When a student didn't practice, a refund letter went out to the parents and the next student on the list began. Judy's studio boasts a Steinway B piano and overlooks a lake in Reston. What more fitting place for a musician to live than Reston, whose first four letters are vital to music? It's in the silences that the sound comes alive. |
